Draft: this policy text is a starting template and must be reviewed by a qualified legal adviser before launch. The banner disappears when "Legal text reviewed" is ticked in Admin > Site settings.
Essential (always on)
- A session cookie to keep you signed in to the student portal or staff area
- Security checks, and a small record of the choice you make in the cookie notice
Saved on this device (only if you allow it)
- Your theme (light or dark)
- Colleges you save with the heart button
- The fields and courses you have looked at, so the site can show "Picked for you". If you sign in as a student this is also saved in your profile so it follows you to your other devices
- Your saved predictor choices, and whether you have already seen the enquiry pop-up
- These are kept in your browser (local storage) so pages remember you and load faster. Nothing is sent to anyone else.
Measurement (only if you allow it)
- Which advertisement or page brought you to us (for example the campaign name in the link), sent with your enquiry so we know which service you came for
- Basic marketing events such as a click on Call or WhatsApp. They are stored in your browser and are used only if a tracking tool is switched on for the site, which we will state here first
Your choices
- When you first open the site, a notice asks you to Accept all, choose Essential only, or pick what to allow. Nothing in the last two groups is saved until you allow it
- You can change your mind at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page. Turning a group off also removes what it saved on this device
- You can also clear cookies and site data in your browser. Signing in will then be needed again
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to accept cookies to use the site?
No. You can choose Essential only. The site works fully, but your theme, saved colleges and "Picked for you" are not remembered.
How do I change my choice later?
Use "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page.
How is my personal information used?
Read our Privacy policy. It explains what we collect when you enquire or register, why, and how you can ask us to change or remove it.
