Who it suits

  • Students who failed Class 10 or Class 12 and want a second chance at a flexible schedule
  • Students with a subject problem who want to change the subject combination
  • Working students, sportspersons and students with health or travel limits
  • Students who have confirmed that their target course accepts BOSSE

How it works, step by step

  1. 1Check recognitionBOSSE asks students to check its Recognition and Approvals page on its website before taking admission. Do that, and also ask the college you want to join.
  2. 2Choose level and subjectsPick Secondary or Senior Secondary and a subject combination that your future course needs (for medical courses, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology and English).
  3. 3Register online or at a centreFill the registration form on the BOSSE website with the fee and scanned original documents, or use an admission centre.
  4. 4Study with the materialsSelf-learning material is available to download or study online, and printed material can be bought from the BOSSE head office. The curriculum is designed with academicians, including from NCERT and NIOS, as BOSSE states.
  5. 5Apply for the examFill the exam form for the session you choose. If you want an on-demand test, ask BOSSE whether it is available for your subjects and when.
  6. 6Result and certificateBOSSE publishes the result and issues the certificate. Keep copies in your locker.

Rules to know

  • Age of at least 15 years applies for Secondary; some third-party websites say 14, so follow BOSSE's own page.
  • The 2024 brochure and BOSSE-linked pages differ on how far on-demand testing has reached. Ask BOSSE in writing for your subjects.
  • Do not rely on a claim that a certificate is "accepted everywhere". Acceptance is decided by each college and exam body.

Documents to keep ready

  • Proof of age
  • Class 10 marksheet or certificate (for Senior Secondary)
  • Identity proof (Aadhaar, passport or another valid ID)
  • Passport-size photographs
  • Previous failed marksheet if you apply for transfer of credit
  • Certificate of ability to read and write (Secondary, if no school record)

Scan each one to PDF in your Padhaidekho.in student portal and keep it safe in the locker.

Acceptance: NEET, colleges and exams

  • NEET-UG and counselling: the bulletin asks for Class 12 from a duly recognised board. Ask NTA and the counselling authority of your state and the MCC whether BOSSE is accepted for your year, and keep it in writing.
  • Engineering, nursing, law and other courses: each university sets its own rules for open-school boards. Ask them.
  • Government jobs and other uses of the certificate depend on the recruiting body.

Acceptance is decided by the exam body and the college, not by us and not by the board. Ask in writing, keep the reply, and only then pay a fee.

Tips from our counsellors

  • Put the question to the college in an email and save the reply.
  • Choose the subjects for your target course before registering, because changes cost a fee.
  • Compare with NIOS, which is a national board, if your target accepts only central boards.

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum age for BOSSE Class 10?

BOSSE's own page says 15 years and proof of age. Some other websites say 14, so go with BOSSE's notice for your session.

Is BOSSE recognised?

BOSSE is established by an Act of the Sikkim Legislative Assembly and asks students to check its Recognition and Approvals page. Recognition for a given college or exam must be confirmed with that body.

Can I take the exam on demand?

BOSSE-linked pages describe on-demand tests, but other material says the facility is still being introduced. Ask BOSSE for the subjects and months available for you.

Can BOSSE students sit NEET?

NEET eligibility rules ask for Class 12 from a duly recognised board with the required subjects and marks. Confirm BOSSE acceptance with NTA and your counselling authority, in writing, for your year.

What if I failed only one subject at another board?

BOSSE offers transfer of credit up to four subjects. Ask BOSSE how your marksheet will be treated.

Do you guarantee admission or acceptance?

No. We explain, check and guide. Boards, colleges and exam bodies decide.
