Document guidance

A clear checklist of documents and review of what you upload.

Overview

Most admission trouble at the last minute is about documents: a missing certificate, a spelling that does not match, a scan that is too blurry. Document guidance gives you a checklist matched to your course and counselling, a careful review of every paper, and help with attestation, notarisation and translation where the official notice asks for them.

Who it is for

How it works, step by step

  1. 1Build the checklistWe list every document needed for your course, quota and counselling, from the official information brochure of the current year. Each item is marked as required, conditional or optional.
  2. 2Check what you already haveYou show us what you hold, originals and copies. We mark what is ready, what is missing and what needs correction.
  3. 3Review each documentWe check names, dates, signatures, seals, validity period and legibility. We look for mismatches across documents, since one mismatch can hold up verification.
  4. 4Plan the missing itemsFor anything missing, such as a fresh income or category certificate, domicile proof or a character certificate, we explain which office issues it and what the application usually needs.
  5. 5Attestation, notarisation and translationWhere the official notice asks for it, we guide you on who can attest or notarise a document, and when a certified translation is required. We follow the notice; we do not add requirements.
  6. 6Scan and organiseWe help you prepare clear scans in the file size and format the portal allows, named in a consistent way, and keep them in your private document locker in the student portal.
  7. 7Prepare for verification dayWe prepare a folder of originals and photocopies in the order the college or authority is likely to ask for, and brief you on what to expect.

What we check and consider

What you get

What to keep ready

How long it takes

Some certificates, such as category, income or domicile, can take days or weeks to be issued by the concerned office, and attestation and translation add more time. This is why we start the review as early as possible, ideally before the result. Final deadlines come from the official counselling calendar of the current year.

What we do not do

We are a counselling service. We do not guarantee any seat, college, branch or result. Always confirm dates, fees and rules on the official notice of the current year.

Questions answered

What is the difference between attested and notarised?

Attestation usually means a gazetted officer or another authorised person certifies that a copy is a true copy of the original. Notarisation is done by a notary public and is often asked for affidavits and for some overseas documents. Follow exactly what the official notice asks for.

Does a document need to be translated?

If a document is not in English or the language the notice accepts, a certified translation may be required. The notice says when. We guide you on getting it done correctly.

My name is spelled differently on two certificates. What do I do?

Start the correction process early. Depending on the issuing body, a correction application, an affidavit or a gazette notification may be needed. The authority's own rules decide what is accepted.

How old can a category or income certificate be?

Many counsellings insist on a certificate issued in a particular financial year or within a set period. This varies by authority and year, so check the notice of the current year.

Do we need originals or photocopies?

Usually both: originals for verification and photocopies, often self-attested, for submission. The checklist for your counselling will say which.

What extra documents do NRI families need?

Typically proof of the NRI or overseas status, such as a passport and visa or residence permit, the sponsor's documents and a proof of relationship. Exact requirements and attestation rules differ by counselling and college, so we match the checklist to your quota. See our NRI documentation service.

Can we store documents safely online?

Yes. The student portal has a private document locker where you scan once and reuse the files for every application. Do not share your login with anyone.
